On Computing Quotient Decentralized Fixed Modes

چکیده
In the decentralized control of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems, the notion of decentralized fixed modes (DFMs) was introduced to capture those modes which are immovable using LTI controllers. However, some DFMs can be moved using more complicated controllers. Recently a so-called “quotient system” associated with the original plant was investigated and it was proven that its DFMs, which we label quotient DFMs (QDFMs), are exactly those DFMs of the original system which cannot be moved using any form of nonlinear time-varying (NLTV) controller. The algorithm provided there to compute the QDFMs requires two steps: first, a partitioning of the sub-systems, using graph theory, and then application of standard tools from decentralized control. However, the first step is fragile, so the goal here is to provide a more robust approach to computing the QDFMs.

Stabilization of decentralized control systems by means of periodic feedback
This paper deals with structurally constrained periodic control design for interconnected systems. It is assumed that the system is linear time-invariant (LTI), observable and controllable, and that its modes are distinct and nonzero. It is shown that the notions of quotient fixed mode (QFM) and structured decentralized fixed mode (SDFM) are equivalent for this class of systems. Then, it is pro...
متن کاملFixed Modes of Decentralized Systems with Arbitrary Information Structure
A seminal result in decentralized control is the development of fixed modes by Wang and Davison in 1973 that plant modes which cannot be moved with a static decentralized controller cannot be moved by a dynamic one either, and that the other modes which can be moved can be shifted to any chosen location with arbitrary precision. These results were developed for perfectly decentralized, or block...

This paper investigates the stabilization problem for interconnected linear time-invariant (LTI) time-delay system by means of a linear time-invariant output feedback decentralized controller. The delays are assumed to be commensurate and can appear in the states, inputs, and outputs of the system. First, the canonical forms for time-delay systems with commensurate delays are introduced and cen...

Algebraic characterizations are presented for the existence of fixed modes of a linear closed-loop system with decentralized feedback control. The class of controllers for whch tixed modes are present is extended beyond that currently known.
